Personal Life
Master Hukum Singh was born on 28 February 1926 in a small village Dhani Phogat of Charkhi Dadri district (then Bhiwani) . He entered in politics way before independence and was great admirer of Ram Manohar Lohia and Jayprakash Narayan’s ideology. During the emergency of 1975 he was in jail for nearly about 19 months. He had keen interest in social welfare and equality and always stood as voice of peasants and farmer. Initially he was associated with the Congress. Hukum Singh got elected as MLA for the first time in the year 1977 and got ministry in the same tenure. He has been elected MLA thrice from his constituency Chakhi Dadri.
Political Career
- In 1977, he was elected as a member of Haryana Legislative Assembly or Vidhansabha from Charkhi Dadri constituency on Janta Party ticket.
- In 1977, he became minister in the government of Chaudhary Devi Lal.
- In 1987, he was again elected a member of Haryana Legislative Assembly or Vidhansabha from Charkhi Dadri constituency and again got appointed in cabinet of Chaudhary Devi Lal.
- On 17 July 1990, he was appointed as Chief Minister of Haryana.
