Personal Life

Chaudhary Devi Lal was born on 25 September 1914 to Shugna Devi and Chaudhary Lekh Ram Sihag of village Teja Khera of Sirsa district in Haryana. His father was a wealthy landlord of village Chautala, Sirsa and owned more than 2700 Bighas or nearly 1700 Acres of Land. Chaudhary Devi Lal went to Dev Samaj Public School, Moga and completed his middle-school. At the time of his schooling during 10th class he was arrested in the year 1930 at Congress office, this made him to quit studies and he joined freedom movement.

Chaudhary Devi Lal was married to Haraki Devi and had 4 sons, Pratap Singh, Omprakash Chautala, Ranjit Singh, and Jagdish Chander.
